Jamboard: An Interactive Online Whiteboard

How are you my remote learning warriors? Hopefully you still got the spirits to learn more and more each day. Don't forget to take a rest if you need it, and stay hydrated by drinking lots of water✨

In this online learning situation, it is no doubt that students face difficulties in mastering materials taught, but are you aware that teachers struggle as well? Especially for those who are not yet technologically literate, this situation poses a challenge which is as hard as what students are going through. They have to not only be able to operate technological tools, but also creatively use them. Teachers must make sure that the online learning experience is fun and can encourage students collaboration. Hence, today, I would like to share an application which can greatly help educators and even students out there: Jamboard!

What is Jamboard?

If you look it up on Google, you might find that it is a big whiteboard which costs plenty of money; well, you're not wrong. However, the Jamboard we are talking about here is not the physical one, but the virtual one that is free!
Just like its physical version, the virtual Jamboard is a whiteboard; a virtual whiteboard, to be exact. It is one of Google's Google Workspace or GSuite features which fosters collaboration and productivity. Therefore, in this whiteboard, multiple people can work on the same Jam (your whiteboard or workspace) and your result will be stored to your Google Drive. You can access it via your browser (for PC) and download it from PlayStore or AppStore.
Jamboard has many features which allows you to:
  • write, draw, and erase what you made,
  • add pictures from Google Drive, Photos, Search, or from your PC or laptop,
  • add shapes (in the browser version),
  • add sticky notes,
  • and many more!

How do I use Jamboard?

Here, I will give you a step-by-step instruction on how to use Jamboard for PC.

2. Press the (+) button at the bottom right of the screen to make a new Jam, and your new workspace will appear.

3. You can try each of the tools Jamboard has provided to make your project. For each of their functions, I will attach a link to a video explaining more about it.
4. To share your Jamboard with others, either as a viewer or collaborator, you can click the Share button on the top right of your screen and either insert the collaborators,

or share the link of your Jamboard. To let others edit the Jam, be sure to change the 'Viewer' to 'Editor.'

Here is a video I made with my group explaining further about Jamboard. There is a direct demonstration of its usage too so you can better see the type of tools and how they are used.
My group also made something in Jamboard which can be implemented in a science class.

So, what projects are you going to make using Jamboard? Let me know in the comments! 😁
